I started learning stock market in Aug. 2022 after quitting my full-time job of 11 years as a Lead Data Scientist & later Lead AI Product Manager. I started as a Swing Trader. I spent almost 10 months learning about how stocks move and how I can exploit their moves in short-term to my benefit. By God’s grace, my trading venture turned out to be profitable from the first month, then as I kept moving forward, I learnt from my experience and by studying other successful traders.
As a result, from June 2023 to June 2024, I made 70% return (post taxes and brokerage) and more importantly lost only 2.3% from the peak when NIFTY500 corrected by more than 20% from Sep. 2024 to Feb. 2025 that’s when I decided that I can do this business for the rest of my life. I don’t claim to be an expert or present this number as a benchmark for comparison. In addition, in the stock market there is no one way to make money. You can trade different instruments on different timeframes or you could be a long-term value investor. All of them make money but one thing that is common in them is- a framework which varies as per your trading or investing style.
93% individual traders loose money in the stock market because they lack a system to trade. They make trading an emotional problem instead it is just a mathematical problem and can be solved by probability and game theory. I have named it Eight Figr League. On that space, we will discuss about stocks being traded on exchanges of major economies like India, US, China etc., Commodities, Crypto-currencies and Futures. I personally prefer to do swing and positional trading in stocks and Futures listed in India & US but with my growing experience I am sometimes okay to build position in commodities as well.
